Guidelines for submissions;

☐  Word count: 250 words maximum  

- Does not apply to poetry

- We accept longer reads that are over 250 words

☐  Title - Short, clear & precise

-Title examples: pose a question, use emotional triggers, the list approach (5 benefits, 7 reasons, 5 top etc.)  

☐ No plagiarism 

- Do not turn in someone else’s work as your own  

- Do not copy words or ideas from someone else’s work without giving them credit 

- Do not give incorrect information about the sources or quotes

☐  Topic 

- Relevant to African life and culture. 

- Categories: sport, travel, style, books, stories, health & wellness,  food, culture, film, art, music, poetry, opinion, people. 

- Themes: food, mental health, gender (masculinity, femininity  and all identities above, beyond and in between), fashion,  interviews, bio’s of key figures and inspirational humans, quotes, African identity, book reviews

- Humor is welcome

☐   Informative, simple, factual and educative.

- Easy to read and understand   

- Avoid jargons

☐  Good grammar 

☐  Structure 

- Introduction to the topic.   

- Body: paragraphs in systematic flow to allow the reader to understand your arguments.   

- Conclusion: reminds the reader why the article was written, summarises points, answer potential questions

☐  Referencing 

- Facts must include a hyperlink to URL source   

- For sources with no links, a reference list should be added at the end of the article   

☐  Apolitical  

- Free of political influence or agenda

☐  No offensive language 

☐  Sensitivity to diverse environments, perspectives and identities.
